I have finally made a connection. The problem appears to be either the number of files or the number of gigabytes stored in the directory tree under the volume I wanted to mount. When I mount to a smaller directory, all works as documented (whether or not the the directory is also in a Windows-shared volume). This is very sad, as the videos I want to watch are all in the larger tree. I guess I have some file-moving to do.

if this is realy the problem, the reboot must be in a situation where you activate the filer or a tap that reads the foldertree
i don't know how it looks like on yours but on my nas i have 8TB data with rec files and thousand of photosfiles.

Interesting. The reboot is always right when I start NASMount. I will disable all my other TAPs and try it.

No such luck. I disabled all the other TAPS, and the reboot still happens if I set the root folder to anything with more than a few dozen subfolders and files. What I said above was wrong, though; it does not reboot when I start NASMount, but only when I try to access the folder.

How do you access this folder? Try another TAP maybe?

Well, I have given up. I could not figure out how to get smart filer to view anything but the main Recordings folder. More importantly, NASMount has just started hanging the Topfield again every time I start the TAP, even when I have it set to the small folders that worked before.

Thank you for your help, everyone, but it is not worth the trouble. I will just watch MP4s, etc., through my media PC.

Hallo allerseits

Ich möchte folgendes nur posten, um allen eine weitere Zusatzinfo zu NASMount zu geben, welche in bestimmten Fällen hilfreich sein kann.

NASMount lief rund 8 Monat ohne Probleme. Auch däs Update des TAP ging ohnen Probleme.
Während meines Urlaubs installierte die NAS eine neue Firmware und nichts ging mehr.
Benutzerrechte auf root gesetzt > nix
NasMount.ini geöffnet > da standen neue Sachen drin, welche ich nicht reingeschrieben hatte. Kamen vermutlich vom upgedateten TAP (Gerti?).
Die alte ini wieder eingespielt:

NAS IP-Address=192.168.1.210
NAS MAC-Address=
NAS Boottime=20
Local Folder Name=NAS
Remotefolder DataFiles=/Mediafiles/Movies
Remotefolder MediaFiles=/Mediafiles/Video

ich weiss, es wird langsam esotherisch, aber für das alles habe ich keine Erklärung, wollte es aber doch mal posten...

ich denke das deine ini aus irgend einem grund (schau dir mal das hddinfo log an) verschwunden ist.
in diesem fall schreiben die meißten taps die ini neu mit default werten...

in dem du das tap hddinfo ausführst und dann per ftp in das settingsverzeichnis von hddinfo rein schaust.

Wird Dir aber vermutlich wenig helfen.

Vielleicht erkennst du doch etwas? Ich hänge es mal an. Der letzte Versuch erfolgte mit den geänderten Parametern aus dem Tipp von Chris1312: "Default-Werte sind laut Gerti 3 für PingWait und 30 für PingGap. Dreh die doch mal auf 5 und 50 hoch."

Außerdem folgende Beobachtung:
Du blendest mit NASMount doch oben rechts Bilder ein. Es bleibt jetzt das Bild mit der 1 extrem lange stehen, danach kommt das Bild mit der 2 mit einem roten Kreuz sehr kurz.

Hi Fox.
Unter Server 2008 bist du wohl die "Jungfrau" hier. Von daher viel Erfolg.
Wenn die IP`s richtig eingetragen sind ; die Root-Rechte stimmen und (ich wiederhole mich)
auf Groß-Kleinschreibung geachtet wurde sollte es eigendlich gehen.
Kann natürlich sein das sich Windows Server ein wenig zickig anstellt.
Kleiner Tip. Versuch zunächst dich genau an die Ordner- und Dateinamen zu halten wie
von Gerti (Post#1) geschrieben wurde.
Wenn es klappt würden wir uns freuen und berichte mal.

Also ich habe es unter dem WHS 2011 angefangen.
Das basiert ja auf Server 2008 R2.

Hier kann man die NFS-Unterstützung als Win-Komponente anwählen und muss nichts extra nachinstallieren. Dann kamm man das gewünschte Verzeichnis so freigeben, dass auch nicht zugeordnete Benutzer Zugriff bekommen.
Hat mal prinzipiell funktioniert. Nur ist mir der Datentransfer AUF den Server immer nach einigen MB abgebrochen... (weiter bin ich noch nicht gekommen - Zeit).
