5400 doesn't switch off after recording?

#1

Beitrag von Jaroslav » Mi 19. Jul 2006, 14:32

Hi,

I have Topfield 5400. When I use timer for recording, the device records what I want but then doesn't switch off! That means, for example, that HDD might be running several days before I return home.

Has anyone also this problem and do you know how to solve it?

Regards,

Jaroslav

P.S.: Sorry, my German is not good enough.

The front panel processor is responsible for turning off the main board power. When it gets confused, you might get strange effects like the front panel always displaying the clock instead of the channel number. Did you try to disconnect the mains power for about 1 minute?

No, I haven't tried that. You think it might help?
I'll do some tests (I cannot exclude the possibility that the device is in some strange status).

But, you see, I program the device to record something in two days. I switch the device off. I go for holiday. When I return after one week, the movie is recorded but the device is running . I have time shift option switched on, that means, it is recording all the time, the harddisk is running, it's hot, etc. ...

Hi, I tested it today evening again and it worked.

Maybe I'm just silly, maybe it's unpredictable, maybe some dwarfs did something while I was not at home.

I didn't unplug it from power today, but it was unplugged recently, so maybe it helped ...

In case I have similar problems in the future and know more, I'll post it here.

Thanks, Alex.

Well, whenever you do something with the RCU during the recording, the receiver won't switch off automatically afterwards. That's not a bug, thats a feature (and one that was requested for a long time). So when you do something while the receiver is recording, you have to tell the receiver again to switch off after the recording is done (press the power button and just let the dialog standing there)

It was not like that. As I said, I was on holiday. Topfield was switched off. Then it woke up (according to timer). Recorder something. And then didn't switch off!

I realized that sometimes it is really in a strange status. For example, the harddisk is noisy (does something much more than in the normal situation) or even the terrestrial channels do not work at all. Typically, it happens when I install lot of new satellite channels.
Unplugging it from the power for a while helps.

And the disk wasn't full, either? Since when a recording cannot be finished, the receiver won't switch off, too.
Anyway, there seem to be some more people who have a similar problem, where Jag's Auto-Off TAP was proposed as a workaround.

No, it wasn't full.
But now the device seems to work correctly. Maybe it was just in some strange status.

To me, this Front Panel Processor stuff happens about twice a year. With different impacts:

No remote control possible, no recording started, not be able to switch off with RC. Very strange indeed. But for I know how to help myself, the only problem is that I miss a recording that is not repeated. So before a real important recording shall be made and I'm not at home that time, I detach the Toppy from power supply for one minute as a precaution...
