Export settings?

#1

Beitrag von Eikka » Mo 14. Mai 2012, 16:30

User Manual says that it should be able to save or export device settings.
If I go to "menu/installation/system restore", there is only save system settings-option which dont ask where to save settings. According user manual there shoud be Export settings-option to export settings to location I want.
Is it possible somehow?
Without it I cant use eg. SetEdit to manage channels.

yep, this is crp thread, isnt it ;)

I wonder why it doesnt support? and why UG says its support :(

Fortunately this is not a big issue, but it would be easier to handle channels with computer than toppy ui.

The problem is, that there is no settings editor for cable settings from Topfield. This is the reason, why Topfield has not include this feature. So even if you can export the settings, you can't can do anything with it.

And the answer, why there is no settings editor is simple: The most cable providers uses LCN. So a Channel editing is not permitted.

Ok,
Older models, tf5100pvrc and tf520pvrc which I have had, were also cable models but they could have been managed 5100 with topset and 520 with setedit. I dont see why the LCN is problem because our channels are also LCN numbered, but those can be renumbered with 2401's onw ui. Other benefit editing with SetEdit was that channels could be tuned but hided from channel list and when eg. only one channel change its frequency you was able to edit frequencys and other parameters manually without refreshing whole channel list, which always find also those channels which I don't subscribe.
But like I said, this is not a major issue but because they have same option in other models why it could not be this one too. If there is no option to export settings no one wants to code a client to manage that data.

Another issue I have wondered why there is no PiP funtion? It may be that device could not handle two HD channels at the same time but, at least here in finland, most of channels are still SD channels. And if they think that most TVs has PiP funtion and therefore is not needed, I would say that most PiP funtions in televisions aren't very flexible and if want to watch two scrambled channels at the same time is not possible because the we need to pay extra to get another cable card to televisions ci-module. Old 5100 and 520 could show two scrambled channels at the same time so I wonder why rip of functions that has previously worked fine.

In Germany we haven't LCN. And as I know, with every search, the LCN will be rewritten.

And, Topset was an privat project. It was not official from TOPFIELD. The official editor (VEGA) has never support any cable receiver.
Also SetEdit was an privat project (I have exchange the settings in the past with the author).

PiP is something differnt. Die 24xx Sat Models has also no PiP. As I know, the internal chip can no PiP. The 2100 has another chip inside. This chip can PiP but only two records. The Chip in the 24xx Series can 4 records.

Looks like Topfield can either walk or chew chewing gum but not both at the same time :)
It cant be very expensive to make chip that does both, so maybe those are in same chip or devices have multiple chips in the future.

Ask the Procucer (Broadcam?) of this Chips. But PiP is very comlicatet and expensive because you need an second video decoder. And in this case, this decoder must also can H.264 to decode.

Doesn't have the SRP/CRP-Models the Broadcom 7400 chip inside, too?
Das Kennwort für die Einstellungen bei den SRP/CRP-Modellen lautet 2010.

Open telnet, enter "uname -m" and compare the output of the different machines.

SRP2401CI+ = 7405b0

I mean the 24xx models and I don't know their exact chip specification. FireBird did say something like Broadcom MIPS processor, but I think this isn't an exact specification as many of the Broadcom chips are MIPS processors.

Ah, finally we have an exact name. :)
